Since 2007 Dmitry Chernov, D.Sc. in Risk Management from ETH Zurich, has been researching the challenges of risk information transmission within large technological companies before disasters. He has also worked as a consultant, advising on managerial decision-making and crisis information response after industrial accidents.

Dmitry Chernov’s risk and crisis communication solutions have been implemented by major energy and infrastructure organizations, including Gazprom, RusHydro, Russian Railways, Gazprom-Neft, Eurochem, the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014, TGC-1, Tatneft, Avtodor, the Renova Group, MegaFon, Aeroflot, etc.

In 2016 Springer published a book by Dr. Chernov and Prof. Didier Sornette under the title "Man-made Catastrophes and Risk Information Concealment", which analyzes failures of risk information transmission in 45 major past disasters and five ongoing risky cases.
